We at WWOMP HQ are often asked what the meaning of WWOMP is, WWOMP is the acronym for The Worldwide  Open Marketplace which is pronounced WOMP.

WWOMP, founded by entrepreneurial duo Baronne Mouton and Rob Schultz (both Durban born), is a smart new marketplace where people can get what they want from others around them for the the price they want to pay. It takes traditional classifieds and opens it up to a more connected audience. WWOMP empowers people with more ways to interact with their neighbours and fulfill their needs. This is the new dawn of Community Commerce.

WWOMP, gives local communities an easy way to connect, trade and share things in everyday life.

Using Google Maps geolocation technology, people within a local vicinity can ask for practically any product or service real time. They simply post a WWOMP for specific product or service they need,  want to sell, or wish to give away for free (similar to Freecycle) either online at wwomp.com or using the iPhone or Android mobile apps which are currently in development.

WWOMP allows people in close proximity to get notifications from others who are either looking to offer their items, time or talents, or receive them. Once a suitable offer is found, the two parties agree and accept, and the transaction is complete. Items requested and offered can be linked to other local advertising or shared through social networks to attract even wider interest.

The service is completely free. Everyone could do with a little helping hand and WWOMP connects communities – people can reach other people and/or local businesses and vice versa. All someone has to do is WWOMP it, and wait for the offers from those around them to roll in!

WWOMP provides an opportunity for people with tight budgets, clutter and busy schedules to earn extra money on their own terms. Or they can give them away for free.
